About Games Like Connections
Games Like Connections is for the people who finish the grid and want another one. Grouping puzzles have been around long before 2023, so alongside the newest daily games this guide includes older puzzles built on the same idea and the games that train the skills Connections rewards.
Who runs this site
Games Like Connections is made by the team behind Gamefinity, a site of free games that start in a second in your browser. We write and check every page here ourselves.
Not affiliated with Connections or The New York Times Company. We name Connections only to say what this guide compares against, and we link to Connections itself so you can always play the original.
How we pick and test games
For this guide we checked each game for the things that make a Connections board good: a fair hidden link, decoys that are clever rather than cheap, and a puzzle that fits in a few minutes. We read the rules and prices on each maker's own site or store page and noted how close the format comes to the sixteen-tile grid.
Every game on the guide was opened on its maker's own site (or its official store page) on the date shown beside it, where we confirmed that it exists, what it is, what it costs and where it runs. We write what it is, why it is like Connections and what is different in our own words. We take no payment or free copies for a place on the list, and nothing here is an ad. When a game changes, closes or starts charging, we update or remove it.
Our own games on the list
3 of the 12 picks (Synonym Sprint, Common Ground, Rank It) are games we make. They carry a "Made by us · Gamefinity" label everywhere they appear, their Play links go to gamefinity.io, and they get the same rating scale as everything else. We only include one of ours where it is a fair answer to "what should I play if I like Connections?", and we say what it does worse as well as what it does well.
How the ratings work
Ratings are ours, out of 5, in halves. They rate each game as a pick for someone who likes Connections: how close the fun is, how well it plays on a phone and a computer, how fair its price or ads are, and how much of it there is. They are not review scores collected from anywhere else.
Corrections
